Que Sara
I'm no longer a teen
The number '2' is added at the front
for the very first time.
In a couple of months I'll be turning twenty.
Numbers the more the merrier?
It's a conflicting answer,
really.
I recalled always wanting to grow up
to be the "grown ups"
How Papa tells me that kids like me wouldn't
understand, please do not interrupt.
I learnt silence from a tender age and only speak with necessity.
Too much silence in fact sometimes, coming from me.
They were taught to shut itself out from the lips;
but coming out more from pen and ink.
Now, am I finally part of the 'grown ups" ?
However, at 20 this is not how I visualized myself to be
The only assets in my possessions are dreams,
misaligned and disappointed by reality.
I don't quite suppose my Papa likes it
and ever wants to really hear about it.
Dreams like mine may or may not bring me
stability and money.
But being an adult so suddenly,
feels like all sorts of weight you see?
Education teaches us how to study;
never about the game of life.
And the adversities it throws at us
all so randomly.
And sometimes I halt my feet
and think how far can dreams really take me?
....
Take me to the times my mother sang to me:
" Que Sara Sara
Whatever will be, will be
The future's not ours to see.
Que Sara Sara
Whatever will be,
will be. "
